Road Construction Update

As per information on the BC Government website , below is an update on some of the highway improvement projects between Kamloops and the Alberta Border. The Province has committed 728 million dollars to upgrading this portion of Highway 1.

Chase – The Chase West Project and the Chase East project are now both complete.

Ford Road to Tappen Valley Road – A reduced speed limit of 60km/h is in effect during construction, please slow down and drive safely. Random 5-minute delays can be expected. Highway 1 and the surrounding frontage roads from Ford Road to Tappen Valley Road are now open and operating at full design speeds. Project completion scheduled for October 31, 2026

Bruhn Bridge - This portion of the Highway 1 four-laning project includes approximately 1.9 km of highway between Old Sicamous Road and Silver Sands Road and the replacement of an existing two lane bridge.  
There are no scheduled closures of highway 1 at R.W. Bruhn Bridge from June 18, 2026, to September 15, 2026. Reduced speed limits are in effect 24/7 as this remains an active construction zone. Please click here for updates on project timelines and scheduled completion.

Salmon Arm West 1st Ave SW to 10 Ave SW – Project Complete

Salmon Arm West 10th Ave SW to 10th Street SW – Requires a one section of widening from two to four lanes.
