Erosion Control – North Okanogan-Shuswap Rail Trail

Erosion Control and stabilization work has started along the Rail Trail and will continue, (assuming that the necessary permits arrive), on the Mara Lake section of the trail until Christmas. After Christmas, work will be undertaken from Foland Road to Km 0 at Sicamous, with plans to complete the work in April, 2027.

Current Closure Details

  • Work Zone: The trail is closed between Folland Road (km 2.8) and Rosemond Lake Bridge (km 14.8). [1]
  • Access Schedule: The area is open to the public on weekends only (Friday afternoon through Sunday). Crews close the section Monday through Friday for heavy equipment and materials. [12]
  • Timeline: Weekday closures continue through the fall until Christmas 2026. Starting in January 2027, work moves from Folland Road to km 0, keeping that northern segment closed until April 2027. [1]

Ferry Shuttle Info

  • The weekend ferry operates from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM to shuttle trail users around the Bruhn Bridge construction work.
