Bruhn Bridge –Sicamous
Due to a rather extensive rockslide in the construction area on June 3, the TCH was closed for several days. Another result of this incident is the daytime opening period has been set back. Originally the daytime open period was to be from June 15 until September 15. As a result of the additional work that had to be done due to the rockslide, the new daytime open period will start on June 26 and extend until September 15. This means the TCH will be fully open from 6AM until 8PM with single lane traffic in the off times. Click here for further updates:
Tappen Bridge Replacement
Construction work has proceeded over the winter to the point that the new four lane section west of the bridge should be open this summer. Delays due to construction traffic and blasting have been minimal, but the heavy traffic volume on the single lane (each direction) section has caused occasionally daytime backups. The entire project is expected to be completed by summer 2027 with only minor traffic delays expected. Click here for further updates:
Jumping Creek to MacDonald Snowshed
This is a project that is intended to mitigate rockfalls and provide avalanche protection and climate change resiliency as well as safety enhancements with median dividers and roadside barriers. This area of Highway 1, approximately 40 kilometres east of Revelstoke, has seen numerous accidents over the years due to tight bends and serious rockfall issues. Single lane traffic is generally restricted to overnight periods. Click here for further updates:
